The number of Japanese tourists to South Korea increased for the second consecutive month in March.
The Korea Tourism Organization said that 224-thousand-328 Japanese tourists visited South Korea in March, representing an increase of 55-point-three percent from the previous month and a year-on-year increase of two-point-five percent.
In February, the number of Japanese tourists increased one-point-three percent on-year.
Before February, Japanese tourists marked year-on-year decreases for 41 months in a row since September 2012, when the number dropped by three-point-eight percent to 308-thousand.
The Korea Culture and Tourism Institute said that the slight increase in recent months could be a temporary increase thanks to the Japanese yen’s appreciation, but the government’s promotion activities in Japan are believed to have positive effects in increasing the amount of Japanese tourists.
