China has urged North Korea to observe the calls of denuclearization by the international community.
 
In a regular briefing held on Friday, China's foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei said China hopes North Korea will heed the calls of the international community and work toward peace and stability of Northeast Asia.
 
The spokesman also hoped that the North would achieve national development, noting the country is at an important stage of national development.
 
On whether Beijing was invited to the rare occasion of the North's party congress, he said he has "no relevant information."
 
Meanwhile, Chinese media reported briefly that they were not able to enter the congress venue as North Korean officials did not guide them in.
