North Korea has threatened to further boost its nuclear deterrence each time South Korea demands denuclearization and the U.S. strengthens what it calls "hostile" policy toward the North.
The North’s state-run Korean Central News Agency(KCNA) quoted a spokesman for the Committee for Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland, as saying in a statement on Friday that the source of the Korean Peninsula's nuclear issue lies in the U.S.’s hostile North Korea policies.
The spokesman added that it is general common sense to respond to nukes with nukes.
The spokesman also said that the North’s status of a nuclear power cannot be changed regardless of whether that status is recognized by others or not, citing that the North has hydrogen bombs.
The spokesman claimed that if the Park Geun-hye government wishes to find a creative solution to the nuclear issue, the South must stop following the U.S. hostile policies for North Korea.
The spokesman said that Seoul and Washington must clearly understand that the North will boost the hitting power of its nuclear deterrence more rapidly if the U.S. strengthens its hostile policies and the South Korean government calls on the North to scrap its nuclear weapons.
