Some 180-thousand foreign tourists, including 80-thousand from China alone, are expected to visit South Korea during the four-day so-called "golden holiday" this weekend starting from Children's Day on Thursday.
The Korea Tourism Organization(KTO) projected Thursday that one-point-four million foreign tourists are expected to flock to the country this month, up five percent from May last year.
The KTO said that over 180-thousand of this total estimate is likely to visit South Korea between Thursday and Sunday this week.
In May last year, 618-thousand Chinese tourists came to South Korea. The figure is likely to rise about five percent to 650-thousand this month.
Based on the tally, the KTO expects some 84-thousand Chinese visitors in the country this weekend.
Also, some 83-thousand Japanese tourists are expected in South Korea during Japan's Golden Week holiday that kicked off on April 25th and continues through this Sunday.
