'N. Korea's April 23 Launch of SLBM Ended in Failure'

North Korea’s April 23rd test-firing of a submarine-launched ballistic missile(SLBM) was reportedly a failure although the North claimed it was a great success.

Multiple sources in the South Korean government said on Sunday that the SLBM that the North launched on April 23rd from the East Sea is believed to have flown about 30 kilometers before exploding in midair.

The sources said that the missile appears to have split into two to three pieces without any booster separation.

The sources speculated that the North Korean military commanders and missile developers may have submitted false reports to their leader Kim Jong-un saying that the SLBM launch was successful.
