Defense Ministry: N. Korea Could Engage in Further Missile Launch

The Defense Ministry is keeping a close eye on North Korea’s movements amid high speculations that Pyongyang could seek to engage in further provocations soon.

Defense Ministry Spokesman Moon Sang-gyun told reporters on Friday that Seoul cannot rule out the possibility the North will launch another Musudan missile. He noted that the North test-fired two of the mid-range ballistic missiles, albeit unsuccessfully, on Thursday, even after having attempted and failed a Musudan missile launch earlier on April 15th on the birthday of the former North Korean leader, Kim Il-sung.

On Thursday, the North’s first missile was fired at 6:40 a.m. from Wonsan, Gangwon Province, but crashed a few seconds after launch. The second attempt took place at 7:26 p.m., but appeared to have blown up midair after traveling several kilometers.
