Consumer Sentiment Improves for 2nd Straight Month

South Korea’s consumer sentiment improved slightly this month compared to a month earlier.

The Bank of Korea(BOK) announced on Wednesday that April's composite consumer sentiment index(CCSI) stood at 101, up one point from March.

It is the second month in a row the index rose after posting a decline for three consecutive months. The CCSI reached 105 in November and fell to 102 in December and 98 in February.

A CCSI reading above the benchmark 100 means that consumers' outlook for the economy is more optimistic than the average long-term sentiment measured between 2003 and 2015.

Another index gauging people's sentiments over economic conditions six months ahead also rose four points to 86 in April from March. It is the highest level in five months since the leading economic indicator marked 89 in November.
