South Korea’s Defense Ministry says that it has no intelligence regarding a possible test-launch of another intermediate-range ballistic missile(IRBM) by North Korea.
The ministry presented the position in relation to media reports that North Korea appears to be preparing for a test-launch of another IRBM, known as the Musudan, after a botched first attempt on April 15th.
Ministry spokesman Moon Sang-kyun said on Tuesday during a regular news briefing that it would take more time for the North to carry out another launch as more time is likely needed to fix the technological errors found in the failed first launch.
North Korea test-fired one of two Musudan missiles on April 15th at its eastern coastal region, but the launch ended in failure. The missile reportedly blew up a few seconds after lifting off.
Regarding the possibility of a fifth nuclear test, the spokesman said that the North could carry out a test at any time if the leadership gave the order, but added that the South Korean military is maintaining defense readiness.
