Seoul: N. Korea to Face Stronger Sanctions, Isolation

South Korea has warned that if North Korea stages additional provocations such as a fifth nuclear test, it would face tougher sanctions from the international community and deeper diplomatic isolation.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Cho June-hyuck said on Tuesday during a regular news briefing that UN Security Council(UNSC) Resolution 2270 is undoubtedly the strongest-ever sanctions imposed on the North. He said the government, however, believes it needs to put additional pressure on Pyongyang through close consultations with the U.S. and other allies, should the North carry out further provocations.

The spokesman added that South Korea, as well as its allies, are considering possible additional punitive measures in case that the North engages in an additional provocation.
