A delegation from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations(ASEAN) is coming to South Korea to learn about the development of the nation’s cosmetics industry.
The Seoul-based Korea-ASEAN Center said Monday that an 18-member delegation will visit South Korea to attend a workshop on bilateral technological cooperation that will include seminars and visits to cosmetics companies.
The delegation comprises 18 government officials and businesspeople from nine of the ten ASEAN member nations, such as Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam.
After arriving in South Korea on Monday, the group will tour around Myeongdong in central Seoul, a popular shopping district that houses a cluster of cosmetics stores.
On Wednesday and Thursday, the delegation will also visit museums and research centers of Korean cosmetics companies, such as AmorePacific, LG Household and Healthcare and Coreana.
The Korea Customs Service says exports of South Korean cosmetics to Thailand amounted to 88 million U.S. dollars last year. Such exports to Singapore reached 63 million dollars and 57 million dollars for Vietnam.
