Hyundai Motor Posts Record Market Share in BRIMs

South Korea's top automaker Hyundai Motor has recorded an all-time high combined market share in the four emerging countries of Brazil, Russia, India and Mexico, called the BRIMs.

According to data by automotive associations in each nation, Hyundai Motor's sales in the four countries came to 203-thousand-six units in the first quarter, down zero-point-eight percent from the same period last year.

However, its market share rose one percentage point year-on-year to a quarterly record of eleven percent.

Hyundai cars performed superbly while total auto sales in the four markets plunged more than nine percent in the first quarter year-on-year to just over one-point-eight million units.

Particularly in India, Hyundai sold over 119-thousand-900 cars in the year's first three months, up seven-and-a-half percent from last year.

The brisk sales in India were led by the Hyundai Creta, the top seller in the sports utility vehicle category to the tune of just under 23-thousand units in the first quarter.
