Increased Movements Detected at N. Korea's Nuclear Test Site

South Korea has detected increased activities at North Korea’s Punggye-ri nuclear test site.

Government sources said Sunday that compared to last month, the frequency of vehicle, workforce and equipment movement increased two to three times recently at the nuclear test site.

The vehicle traveling in and out of the North Portal tunnel located at the site is believed to be carrying nuclear technicians.

The South Korean government and the military are reportedly closely monitoring the movements at the site, concluding the increased activities indicate that North Korea is preparing for its fifth nuclear test.

The government is also closely watching if the North brings a nuclear warhead into the tunnel to carry out a nuclear detonation test.
