Seoul, Tokyo, Beijing Join Hands Against Smuggling of Drugs, Gold Bars

South Korea, China and Japan have agreed to work together to prevent smuggling of drugs and illicit gold bars.

The Korea Customs Service(KCS) announced on Friday that it held two-day talks in Tokyo with their counterparts from the two neighbors.

In a bid to to crack down on people who take advantage of simplified clearance procedures and sneak in drugs or gold bars via express mail or cargo, the three sides agreed to share information about Web sites involved in smuggling and sales of illicit items.

The KCS said it also held a bilateral meeting with Chinese authorities and asked them to cooperate in cracking down on counterfeit products of South Korean exports dubbed K-Brand goods.

In a bilateral meeting with its Japanese counterpart, the KCS discussed measures to crack down on illegal travelers.
