Biz Associations Call for Passage of Pending Bills after Elections

Vice chiefs of business associations have visited ruling and opposition parties to call for a swift passage of pending bills.

The leaders and officials from the headquarters of a signature-campaign for the passage of pending bills on Monday visited the ruling Saenuri Party and opposition Minjoo Party of Korea and the People’s Party.

They asked the parties to pass the pending bills aimed at revitalizing the economy during the remaining period of the current Assembly or as soon as the new Assembly is launched.

The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry(KCCI) took a lead role in launching the signature-campaign in January.

KCCI Executive Vice Chairman Lee Dong-geun said on Monday that the parliamentary session of the 18th General Assembly had about a month left after the general elections four years ago.

A KCCI official said that Lee's remarks are understood to be a call for the 19th Assembly to pass the pending bills after the general elections before its term expires on May 29.
