The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning and the Korea Student Aid Foundation have selected 137 students as this year's recipients of the Presidential Science Scholarship that will cover all of their undergraduate tuition.

The ministry and the foundation said Thursday that they made the selection from a total of 466 students who applied for the scholarship. The ministry said it will select ten additional students studying overseas who will receive the presidential scholarship in mid-June in line with the end of their school semester abroad.

The selected students at home will have their tuition covered in full and receive an additional two-and-a-half million won each semester. Students selected overseas will receive up to 50-thousand dollars a year to cover tuition and living expenses until they graduate.

Under the scholarship terms, the newly selected students must carry out volunteer work for more than 30 hours a year.

The government and the Korea Student Aid Foundation have been giving out the Presidential Science Scholarship since 2003 in order to discover, systematically foster and support outstanding students in the fields of science and technology.
