N. Korea Fires Short-Range Projectile

North Korea on Tuesday fired a short-range projectile in an apparent show of force.

A South Korean military official said that an unidentified projectile was fired from the coastal city of Wonsan at around 5:40 p.m.

The projectile is said to have flown some 200 kilometers before hitting a land target.

The official said that the South Korean military is closely monitoring related developments and maintaining a high level of readiness.

The latest launch comes eight days after the North fired five short-range rockets in the East Sea from the northeastern city of Hamhung.
