Consumer Sentiment Improves for the First Time in 4 Months

The nation's consumer sentiment has marked an improvement for the first time in four months, indicating that the domestic financial market may be stabilizing amid eased jitters about the global economy.

Bank of Korea(BOK) data on consumer trends for March released Tuesday showed that the composite consumer sentiment index(CSI) rose two points from 98 last month to 100 this month.

The index had been falling consecutively from 105 last November to 100 in January.

A reading above the benchmark 100 means that consumers' outlook for the economy is more optimistic than the average long-term sentiment measured between 2003 and 2015.
