The tourism organizations of South Korea and Thailand on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding(MOU) on cooperation to advance the two countries' tourism sectors.
The Korea Tourism Organization and the Tourism Authority of Thailand signed the agreement at a ceremony in Seoul with Thai Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak in attendance.
Yuthasak Supasorn, chief of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, said during the signing that South Korea is promoting its colorful culture to the world including Korean cinema and K-pop. He said that information on Korean strategies for promoting tourism is necessary for Thailand to promote its tourism sector.
The tour chief said there is an insufficient number of Korean-speaking Thai tour guides compared to the one-point-37 million South Korean visitors to Thailand last year. He then promised efforts to support human resources in tourism.
On Thursday, eight South Korean and Thai agencies signed MOUs to strengthen cooperation and exchanges in the fields of economy, trade, investment, education and science.
