Ssangyong Motor has received an award at an international fair of carbon composites.
 
The South Korean carmaker said it won the innovation award in the Technical Textiles category for "tailored non-crimp fiber technology for cost-saving, high-efficiency manufacturing of tailgate components" at the 2016 JEC World Composites Show held in Paris early this month.  
 
Ssangyong developed the new technology in partnership with the Korea Institute of Carbon Convergence Technology(KCTECH) and Germany’s Institut für Textiltechnik(ITA).
 
The technology for technical textiles reinforces strategic points inside the tailgate with carbon fiber plastics, helping to save materials and costs on top of weight reduction.

The annual fair is hosted by JEC, an international composites industry organization, which was established in 1996.
