Customs Service to Certify Custom-Cleared Products to Boost Exports

South Korea will introduce an official certification system for custom-cleared domestic products as part of efforts to boost exports.

The Customs Service on Tuesday held a meeting at the Seoul Main Customs and announced a set of measures to boost exports.

Under the new system, labels will be attached to exports certifying that the products have cleared customs. The move is aimed at preventing imitations of domestic products from circulating abroad and improving credibility of South Korean exports sold through domestic online shopping malls.

The service will also allow online shopping malls to utilize its simplified export declaration platform.

The amount of South Korea’s exports through online shopping malls reached 161 million U.S. dollars last year, marking a three-point-six-fold increase from the previous year.
