Michelin Guide to Publish Edition on Korean Restaurants

The Michelin Guide, an internationally respected source that rates restaurants, will publish an edition on Korean eateries.

South Korea will become the 27th nation in the world and the fourth in Asia to have a Michelin Guide on its restaurants. Among Asian countries, Michelin Guide has listed and rated restaurants in Japan, Hong Kong and Macau, and Singapore.

In a news conference in Seoul Thursday morning, Michelin Korea announced that Michelin Guide evaluators will soon visit Seoul to assess restaurants in the country.

Bernard Delmas, vice president of Michelin Group, said that the publication reflects a recent "gastronomic" boom in the nation. He expressed hope that the Seoul edition will duly introduce the city's high-quality cuisine and culinary culture to the world.

The Seoul edition of the Michelin Guide will make its debut as early as this year and revised versions will be published every year.

It will be printed in Korean and English. A digital version will also be available.
