Report: North Korea has declared that it will liquidate South Korean assets located in the North in retaliation for Seoul’s announcement of additional sanctions.
The North's Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland announced in a statement Thursday that all inter-Korean agreements on economic cooperation and exchange projects are immediately nullified.
The committee argued that the South unilaterally suspended tours to Mount Geumgang and the operation of the Gaeseong Industrial Complex in North Korea.
The announcement came a month after the South Korean government stopped the operation of the inter-Korean factory park.
As it threatened to sell the properties of South Korean businesses left behind at the industrial park last month, North Korea also said it will take a series of special measures aimed at dealing fatal political, military and economic blows to the Park Geun-hye government.
Pyongyang also reiterated that the North Korean military has switched its strategy to taking preemptive strikes, and it is ready to launch an attack at any time.
