A delegation of the American Chamber of Commerce in Korea(AMCHAM) will visit Washington next week and meet with key U.S. officials.

According to AMCHAM on Wednesday, its six-member delegation will visit Washington from Monday to Thursday of next week and stress to the U.S. government South Korea’s importance as an economic partner.

Every year since 1985, AMCHAM has been visiting key cities in the U.S. and meeting with senior government officials and lawmakers to discuss issues that affect American companies operating in South Korea.

AMCHAM said the visits, called Doorknocks, have underlined the importance of the economic partnership between South Korea and the U.S. and played the role of addressing misunderstandings.

Among the members of the delegation are AMCHAM Chairman James Kim, who is also GM Korea President and CEO, AMCHAM President John Schuldt and former AMCHAM President David Ruch.

The delegation is scheduled to attend some 30 meetings that will see the participation of officials of the White House, the Departments of State, Commerce and Treasury as well as the U.S. Trade Representative and Federal Trade Commission.

In the meetings, AMCHAM officials are set to explain the expected improvements in the business environment resulting from eased regulations and labor reforms that are being pursued by Seoul.

They will also discuss problems that need to be addressed to attract foreign direct investment as well as hold discussions about the South Korea-U.S. free trade agreement and the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
