Uijeongbu City in Gyeonggi Province will purchase products of South Korean companies hit by the shutdown of the Gaeseong Industrial Complex.
 
The city said on Tuesday that it decided to allocate a budget of more than 30 million for public procurement of socks and other products of the Gaeseong companies as part of efforts to help the troubled firms. The city will use the goods for marketing and promotions.
 
The city also plans to provide administrative support to enable cancellation of registration for vehicles that firms left behind in the closed inter-Korean industrial park.
