South Korea’s three major shipbuilders are suffering from falling demand amid a prolonged global economic slowdown.
 
Hyundai Heavy Industries, Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering and Samsung Heavy Industries failed to secure any new orders in January.
 
Hyundai clinched just three contracts to build two oil tankers and an LNG carrier this month, while Samsung and Daewoo did not register a single order for the first two months of the year.
