S. Korean Auto Market World’s 10th Largest

A study has found that the size of South Korea's domestic automobile market has grown to be the tenth largest in the world, accounting for about two percent of the global car market.

The Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association(KAMA) reported South Korea’s gross car sales volume last year stood at one-point-83 million units. The figure is ten-point-three percent higher from the year before.

The KAMA said that consumer tax cuts and rising demand for sport-utility vehicles were likely attributable to the growth.

China remained the global leader last year with about 24-point-six million cars sold last year. The country accounted for about 27 percent of the global car market, remaining the largest car market for the seventh consecutive year.
