Military to Investigate Noise Level of N. Korea's Loudspeaker Broadcasts

The South Korean military will evaluate the level of noise produced by North Korea’s anti-Seoul loudspeaker broadcasts on the front-line areas.

Defense Ministry Spokesman Moon Sang-kyun said on Monday during a regular news briefing that the military will discuss measures to address complaints filed by residents in the border areas over the North’s loudspeaker broadcasts.

The military reportedly plans to send an inspection team to front-line villages soon to measure noise levels.

A military official said that the military will also investigate whether South Korea’s loudspeaker broadcasts are to blame for the complaints.

The military will consider moving the loudspeakers to more appropriate locations if it is determined that the South’s broadcasts are causing inconvenience for residents.
