Breeding Alaska Pollack in Nets Under Water Attempted for 1st Time

Attempts will be made for the first time in the nation to breed Alaska pollack within a net installed under the sea in waters off Yangyang, Gangwon Province.

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and Gangwon Province will stock the net with some five-thousand Alaska pollack that measure some 25 centimeters on Friday afternoon.

The fish were produced via artificial insemination, the first in the nation, last February.

With the breeding method, a variety of research will be carried out to restore the Alaska pollack, which no longer dwell in South Korean waters.
