The government has vowed to invest one trillion won, or about 807 million U.S. dollars, in the country’s game industry.

Officials from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning made the announcement at a forum in Seoul on Friday.

The ministries said that they will make sure that the nation's growing game industry will benefit from its advanced information technology.

Officials vowed to increase funds for progressing virtual reality and artificial intelligence game technologies.

The Culture Ministry said it will create what it calls a “game boost center” to coordinate government subsidies for the projects by April 2018.
