An emergency planning committee of South Korean companies that operated in the inter-Korean Gaeseong Industrial Complex held its first meeting on Monday and vowed to maintain the employment level as much as possible.
 
The committee said that it reached the decision after discussing livelihood measures and employment issues for people who immediately lost their jobs from the shutdown of the joint venture.
 
It urged the government to swiftly come up with effective measures to help the firms, saying the companies that have suffered significant losses with no sales cannot continuously upkeep the employment level.
 
Meanwhile, the committee has decided to investigate losses that companies have suffered from the complex’s shutdown.
