S. Korea Cuts Electricity, Water to Gaeseong

South Korea cut off the supply of water and electricity to the Gaeseong Industrial Complex late Thursday.

The Unification Ministry cut off electricity at 11:53 p.m., shortly after all South Koreans were evacuated from the inter-Korean factory park in North Korea.

The ministry explained that the power outage means water supply to the complex would also be halted.

The water cut is also expected to stem the flow of drinking water into the city of Gaeseong, where the park is located.

Seoul officials said the cuts were made according to contingency plans set by the government to deal with emergencies.
