An association of South Korean companies operating in the Gaeseong Industrial Complex has urged the government to reconsider its decision to halt operations of the complex.
Chairman Jeong Gi-seob of the association of 124 South Korean small and medium-sized companies operating at the factory park revealed the demand after meeting with Unification Minister Hong Yong-pyo on Wednesday.
Jeong told reporters that the association requested a reconsideration of the latest decision.
He made clear that the losses the companies will face cannot be healed in any way.
In particular, Jeong claimed that it was unfair for the government to reach such a decision and unilaterally inform it without giving companies the time off to minimize losses.
The association plans to soon hold an emergency meeting of its member companies and discuss follow-up measures, including plans to pull out.
