Finance Ministry, BOK to Hold Meetings on Effects of N. Korea's Missile Launch

The Finance Ministry will hold a meeting on Wednesday to discuss the possible effects that North Korea’s rocket launch will have on the South Korean economy.

The meeting on the last day of the lunar New Year holiday will be chaired by first vice minister, Choi Sang-mok, and attended by officials of the Financial Services Commission and the Bank of Korea among other related agencies.

Participants will determine the effects of the North’s missile launch on financial markets of both home and abroad and discuss necessary countermeasures.

The Bank of Korea will hold its own meeting on the matter on Wednesday. The central bank kept a close eye on international financial markets by maintaining an around-the-clock monitoring system during the holiday.
