North Korea claimed that it has succeeded in launching a long-range rocket carrying what it calls a satellite.

The North’s official Korean Central Television said in a special announcement at 12:30 p.m. Sunday that the North launched the rocket at the Dongchang-ri launch site and successfully placed the Kwangmyongsong-4 satellite into orbit.

The state-run outlet said that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un ordered the launch on Saturday, disclosing a written directive with Kim’s autograph.
