KOSPI Advances; KOSDAQ Slips

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) advanced on Friday, the last trading day ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.

The main index rose one-point-53 points, or zero-point-08 percent, to close at one-thousand-917-point-79.

The tech-heavy KOSDAQ, however, fell two-point-31 points, or zero-point-34 percent, to 681-point-31.

The South Korean stock market will reopen next Thursday, following a three-day break during the Lunar New Year holiday. 

On the foreign exchange market, the local currency strengthened four-point-seven won against the U.S. dollar to finish at one-thousand-197-point-four won.
