Finance Minister Yoo Il-ho has appealed to the National Assembly to help the president and government work properly, stressing that the success of reform depends on legislation.

In a statement announced by ministers at the Sejong Government Complex on Monday, Yoo asked parliament to give the government a chance to do all it can and be assessed through its results.

The minister noted that the property market has been revitalized since three real estate bills were passed and a recently passed crowd funding bill is expected to create a business startup boom.

Yoo said that many other key economic bills are pending at parliament, despite expectations that they will produce greater effects to boost the economy. They include the service industry development act, the labor reform bills and a bill designed to invigorate business activities.

Regarding the conflict over how much the central government should pay to provide free preschool education, Yoo stressed that it is the legal obligation of education superintendents to set aside the budget, and blamed education offices and local governments for creating controversy.

He also noted that both the government and the Finance Ministry will focus on creating jobs.
