BOK Forecasts Low Prices to Continue in 2016

The Bank of Korea forecasts that low inflation will continue this year.

In a report Thursday, the central bank promised to maintain monetary easing to achieve consumer price growth near its two percent target over the mid-to-long term.

The report said that modest inflation will continue due to downside pressure from the demand side and low oil prices on the supply side.

Last year, consumer prices rose a record low of zero-point-seven percent due to falling global oil prices and a sluggish domestic economy.
