Survey: 58% of N. Korea Experts Believe Gaeseong Complex Must Remain as it is

A new survey finds that six out of ten experts on North Korea believe that the Gaeseong Industrial Complex must continue operating despite the North’s fourth nuclear test.

The survey was carried out by the National Unification Advisory Council on 104 North Korea experts for a week from January 14 via e-mails and text messages.

It found that 57-point-seven percent of respondents felt that the industrial park must be maintained at its current state.

Eleven-and-a-half percent of the surveyed said the operation of the joint venture should be scaled down in line with the state of circumstances.

According to another survey carried out on the advisory committee’s five-thousand-508 members during the same period, 52-point-four percent of respondents said current operations at the Gaeseong park must be retained.
