Gov't, Bank Officials to Visit Iran to Expand Financial Exchanges

Government and bank officials will visit Iran this weekend as part of efforts to expand financial transactions with the Middle Eastern country.

Working-level officials from the ministries of finance and foreign affairs, as well as Woori Bank and the Industrial Bank of Korea will embark on the three-day trip from Saturday.

The visit comes as international sanctions on Iran have been lifted.

It marks the first time for government and finance officials to visit Iran for discussions. During their stay, the South Korean representatives will meet with Iranian central bank officials and explore issues related to using the South Korean won and other currencies in bilateral trade.
