Leaflet Senders Ask President Not to Stop Their Activities

A South Korean civic group that has been sending anti-North Korea leaflets across the border toward the North is asking President Park Geun-hye to not block them from doing so.

Fighters for a Free North Korea(FFNK) said Thursday that it made the call in a letter sent to the president on Tuesday.

The group said they underlined the validity of the leaflets in the letter, arguing that the pamphlets are intended to relay the truth to the North Korean people.

Seoul's Unification Ministry said that it will consider the group members' rights as well as the safety of residents near the inter-Korean border as it mulls how to respond to the civic group's request.

Last Wednesday, FFNK sought to send thousands of propaganda leaflets denouncing the North’s fourth nuclear test from Gimpo, but their efforts were hampered by the police.
