Mercury Dips to -21°C on Season's Coldest Day in S. Korea

Below-freezing temperatures near minus 20 degrees Celsius persisted on Wednesday morning in northern parts of South Korea.
 
Marking the coldest day of this year's winter season so far, Yeoncheon in northern Gyeonggi Province reported morning temperatures of minus 21-point-six degrees Celsius, which is nearly minus seven degrees Fahrenheit.
 
Nearby Pocheon reported minus 21-point-four degrees, while Gapyeong reported minus 19-point-nine degrees and Yangju recorded minus 18-point-eight.
 
The Korea Meteorological Administration(KMA) issued a cold wave alert as of 6 p.m. Monday for residents in northern Gyeonggi.
