Women, Senior Citizens Led Employment Market Last Year

State data shows that women and senior citizens led the growth of the country’s employment last year.
 
According to Statistics Korea, the number of workers increased by 337-thousand last year, 205-thousand of whom were women, while 132-thousand were men.
 
The overall ratio of male workers remains higher in the total number of workers, but the gap is decreasing from four-point-09 million in 2012 to four million last year.
 
Workers in their 20s increased by a mere 68-thousand last year, while those in their 30s and 40s decreased. However, workers in their 50s increased 149-thousand, while those over 60 increased 172-thousand in 2015.
 
The country’s overall employment rate marked 60-point-three percent last year, failing to reach the government’s target of 70 percent for the third year in a row.
