The government is planning a massive discount event after the Lunar New Year holidays next month.
 
Representatives of from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, department stores, major discount stores and manufacturers will meet on Friday in Seoul to organize the large-scale sales event.
 
Unlike a similar event held last year, the government will involve manufacturers in the the planning stage to discuss details such as schedules and discount rates.
 
The government, which organized the Korea Black Friday sales event in October last year, decided to hold the event on a regular basis as it was assessed to have helped stimulate spending.
