An advocacy group representing former Samsung employees who were diagnosed with leukemia has called on the electronics giant to solve two other remaining issues.
In a news conference held in front of the Samsung Electronics' office in southeastern Seoul on Wednesday, the group Banolim said an agreement reached on Tuesday was significant but only addressed only one of the three issues.
Banolim and families of leukemia patients signed on Tuesday an agreement with Samsung Electronics on measures to prevent the recurrence of work-related diseases at workplaces of the electronics giant, which is one of three matters of contention along with compensation and payment.
The group said in order for the conflict to be completely resolved, agreements must be reached on all three matters. The group then urged Samsung to follow through with its promise on holding negotiations regarding apology and compensation.
Samsung Electronics, however, said the eight-year conflict was fully settled. The conglomerate said that following compensation and apology, the most contended issue of preventive measures was concluded as of Tuesday.
