The official newspaper of North Korea’s ruling Workers’ Party of Korea has claimed that affairs on the Korean Peninsula are being driven toward the brink of war because of a U.S. nuclear bomber.
The Rodong Sinmun said Monday that the U.S. is currently exerting its strategic bomber formations toward South Korea. The paper said it is foolish for the U.S. to attempt to handle the North with its military power.
The daily said if the U.S. adheres to what it called hostile policies toward the North, Pyongyang will continuously strengthen its nuclear deterrence.
The report came after a U.S. B-52 nuclear bomber flew over Osan Air Base in Gyeonggi Province at a low altitude on Sunday, in a show of force following the North’s nuclear test.
