Amid instability in the Chinese stock market and geopolitical concerns on the Korean Peninsula, the value of the South Korean won against the greenback depreciated to the weakest in five years and six months.

On the Seoul foreign exchange market, the value of the won weakened by eleven-point-seven won, to end trading at one-thousand-209-point-eight won against the U.S. dollar, marking the largest loss since July 2010.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) on Monday ended 22-point-78 points, or one-point-19 percent lower to close at one-thousand-894-point-84, the lowest level in about four months.

The tech-heavy KOSDAQ also fell seven-point-60 points, or one-point-11 points to close at 674-point-96.
