RFA: Chinese Goods Banned in N. Korea

North Korean residents are reportedly suffering a great deal of inconveniences since the regime placed a stronger sanction on the use of Chinese products last month.

U.S.-based Radio Free Asia, quoting a source from South Pyongan Province, said legal enforcement agents are patrolling the streets of Pyongyang to monitor citizens’ use of Chinese goods.

RFA said if students are seen at school wearing Chinese clothes or shoes, they are forced to return home to change their outfits and come back to school. It said such measures are inducing many complaints from the residents.

RFA said the North put in place the sanction measures as part of the country’s policy to encourage domestic production of industrial goods. It added that worsening relations between the North and China have also caused the measures.
