No Radioactive Materials Found in Third Air Samples

South Korea’s Nuclear Safety and Security Commission (NSSC) has found no radioactive materials to confirm North Korea’s recent nuclear test after examining the third set of air samples.

The commission said on Sunday that it examined air samples collected in the East Sea and found 0.31 millibequerels of xenon 133 per one cubic meter.

The figure is in line with usual levels and similar to the test results of the first and second samples.

Other radioactive substances such as xenon 135 were not detected.

The NSSC said that it could not determine whether North Korea's nuclear test occurred as it detected the usual level of xenon 133 from the third set of samples as well.
