The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) on Friday managed to close higher, despite falling below the psychologically significant one-thousand-900 threshold during the day.

The main index added 13-point-29 points, or zero-point-70 percent, to close at one-thousand-917-point-62, thanks to institutional investors' purchasing.

The tech-heavy KOSDAQ also jumped two-point-90 points, or zero-point-43 percent, to close at 682-point-56.

On the Seoul foreign exchange market, the value of the local currency strengthened two-point-five won against the U.S. dollar to end trading at one-thousand-198-point-one won.
