Volkswagen to Recall 120,000 Cars in S. Korea in H1

Volkswagen plans to recall some 120-thousand cars in South Korea in the first half of this year as the carmaker remains engulfed in an emissions-rigging scandal.

Audi Volkswagen Korea submitted plans to fix the defects of the affected vehicles to the Ministry of Environment on Wednesday, under which all 120-thousand cars equipped with emissions-cheating software will be recalled.

The recall plan will be finalized after reviews by the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

The government usually takes less than a month to approve recall plans, but the Environment Ministry is expected to take more time to thoroughly review the case due to its severity.

As a result, the recall is expected to begin in earnest during the first half of this year.
